Stockholm, the beautiful and stylish capital of Sweden is a great place for traditional Scandinavian Christmas shopping. Exploring the Christmas markets, enjoying the traditional Scandinavian Christmas dishes and visiting the heart of the Stockholm’s shopping district for more modern Christmas gifts will make a great weekend break in this fascinating northern capital.

Stockholm Christmas markets
Stockholm has many Christmas markets to offer. Exploring Gamla Stan, the old city, sipping mulled wine and tasting traditional gingerbread biscuits create the real Scandinavian Christmas atmosphere.  Other famous Christmas markets can be found in Skansen, the open air museum and Kungsträdgården, the famous park in the centre of Stockholm.

NK department store StockholmStockholm shopping tips
Stockholm is great for shopping, offering many Swedish brands that are not that well-known in other parts of Europe. Nordiska Kompaniet, NK, is Stockholm’s famous department store, where you can find nice presents for everyone in your family. Visit also their small grocery department for traditional Traditional Swedish raspberry sweetsSwedish sweets and chocolates. Especially I could recommend to Stokcholms Konfektyr fabrik’s Raspberry sweets – they are so delicious!

Visit also Östermalmshallen, the food market hall in Östermalm area. The place was opened in 1889, and is the most traditional place to taste Swedish Christmas dishes and sweets. For the most exclusive shops, Birger Jarlsgatan is the place to go. There you can find all the brands such as Louis Vutton, Gucci and Max Mara.  Try also charming Södermalm area, where you can find many unique boutiques and interior shops.
